Transfer News LIVE: Gossip, deals and rumours from Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and more.
Saturday, August 26
3:50pm: West Brom boss Tony Pulis is reportedly ready to launch a club record bid for Mamadou Sakho.
Sakho has been frozen out at Liverpool following a bust-up with Jurgen Klopp last summer.
The Daily Telegraph claim the Baggies are looking to offer him a route out of Anfield.
And it is said Pulis and co are willing to bid £30m for 27-year-old centre-back.
3:30pm: Charlie Nicholas insists Arsenal must sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Nicholas told Sky Sports: “He knocked back £180,000-a-week because he doesn’t want to be there, that’s what he’s telling you.
“’I don’t want to be here, I want to go somewhere else’. Well my friend, sold.
“That would be my method, you’re sold. Go and get a transfer, we’ll take the money.
“He’s a fabulous potential talent and I don’t want to lose him, but he doesn’t want to be there.
“He must earn the right to get in the team. Surely he must know himself ‘I’m not going to get in this team’.”
3:00pm: Chris Coleman insists Gareth Bale is ‘better off’ at Real Madrid amid the ongoing interest from Manchester United.
The Wales boss said: “I think from our point of view my opinion is that La Liga, the tempo and physicality is completely different to the Premier League.
“Technically some of the teams there are absolutely tip top.
“Being selfish, he’s better off at Real Madrid. You work all your life to get the top, you don’t want to give that up.
“Where do you go from Real Madrid that’s better? There’s one or two clubs up there but none better.
“I don’t envisage there’ll be a problem with Real Madrid, there never has been, they’ve always been brilliant with us.”
2.30pm: Liverpool could be about to change their tune and complete a late transfer deal with Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.
Spanish outlet Marca claim it could now be all change.
They say in the last few hours Liverpool have ‘opened the door’ to a possible negotiation.
Marca report the Reds are not as inflexible as previously thought, as Thursday’s transfer deadline looms.
1:50pm: Paul Merson insists Tottenham have to sign more players this summer.
He told Starsport: “Spurs need to make signings. They are being left behind.
“They need a centreforward because if Kane gets injured, I dread to think where they will end up.”
1:10pm: Arsene Wenger believes he’ll be able to convince Alexis Sanchez to stay at Arsenal as he has history dealing with players’ demands.
He told Sky Sports: “We are in a very simple state, he has one year to go and I want him to stay. And if possible, during the season, extend the contract.
“I’ve dealt with this kind of situation many times, because when we built the stadium we had such restrictions on the financial front, and we weren’t too much in a position where we had a choice to make a decision to sell.
“We are hopefully going to a future where we will be much stronger on that front.”
12:40pm: Zinedine Zidane insists Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid.
The Real boss said: “Cristiano is here and he’s not going to leave.
“This is his club, his city, his team and I think he’s very happy to be here and with everything he’s got here.
“I have no doubts when it comes to that.”
