Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek has admitted he’s unsure over his long-term future at the club due to receiving no assurances from manager Antonio Conte.
The 21-year-old is on loan at Crystal Palace this season and eager to prove himself, which he believes will be crucial to securing his status in Chelsea’s first-team.
Loftus-Cheek has long been regarded as one of the top talents coming through at Stamford Bridge, but like many before him has failed to gain regular playing time.
Having made the move to Palace, Loftus-Cheek believes he’s doing the right thing for his career, but cast doubt over his situation at Chelsea as he admitted he doesn’t know what will happen at the end of this season.
Conte had told him he’ll be in his plans next season, he said: ‘Not at all.
‘But I don’t think it’s right to because you never know how I’ll preform this season. So, right now I’m just literally focused on Palace.
‘He (Conte) said I need to play games. Chelsea is a big club and there’s a lot of pressure which I understand.
‘For me, I think it was the right time for me to go away from Chelsea right now and get my game time elsewhere.
‘I’m really just enjoying playing, that’s the main thing for me at the moment.
‘I just want to play as many games as possible and improve.’
