Lionel Messi has finally put pen to paper on a highly-anticipated new deal with Barcelona, extending his contract until 2021.
The Argentinian star’s deal at the Camp Nou was set to expire at the end of this season and speculation was rife about his future, with Barcelona fans fearing the worst as the signing of his new contract was yet to be officially confirmed.
However, the Catalan giants have now confirmed that Lionel Messi has penned a new deal which will see him stay with the Catalan giants until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The club confirmed the new deal with the much sought after photo of the 30-year-old, pen in hand, signing the new contract alongside club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The buyout clause in the new contract has been set at €700m and by the time the deal expires, Messi will have spent 17 years with the first team at Barcelona.
