Liverpool’s deadline day transfers: Van Dijk on his way claim, Origi done deal, Klopp hails Ox

Virgil van Dijk is ‘on his way’ to Liverpool, according to former Red David Thompson.

The Southampton defender has been a target for Jurgen Klopp all summer.

The Dutchman was seen leaving the Saints’ training ground in a blacked out car earlier today.

And ex-Liverpool midfielder Thompson believes he is on his way to Merseyside, tweeting: “Vvd on his way to Lfc, some spending going on from FSG.”

Liverpool striker Divock Origi has joined Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old Belgium international has had little game time at Anfield this season, making one substitute’s appearance.

He will now look to continue his development in Germany.

Jurgen Klopp is convinced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can finally reach his full potential following the midfielder’s £40m move from Asenal to Liverpool.

Klopp said: “I hear a lot of talk about positions but let’s talk about the player.

“He is someone with really good abilities who always gives everything for his team. A player that is positive and willing to take risks to try and make positive things happen.

“Already he is a very good player and I think he has the mentality and desire to get even better – that excites me.”
