Seven months after suffering a serious knee injury, Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned for Manchester United, playing the final minutes against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
The scoreboard showed a 4-1 result and Jose Mourinho decided to bring on Zlatan for Martial. The towering Swede recovered a month ahead of schedule and he was rewarded with a standing ovation from the Old Trafford faithful.
The 36-year-old came on to lead the line, with Romelu Lukaku playing out wide. The Red Devils add more firewood to their strike force and Jose Mourinho will now have to cope with the fresh headache of picking his striker.
On April 20, in the Europa League clash with Anderlecht, Ibrahimovic was carried off the pitch on a stretcher with knee ligament damage. He’s back almost seven months later. Good news for United, the Premier League… and football.
