Kim Jong-un’s generals have told their soldiers to get ready for battle as US bombers fly war drills over the Korean Peninsula.
Fears of nuclear war were renewed as the brazen dictator fired a missile over the northern-most island of Japan.
Air raid sirens rung out as people were warned to take cover, before the rocket passed overhead, broke apart, and crashed into the Pacific.
North Korea has said this launch was a preparation for a “real war” and it was feared to be a test flight for a potential strike near US bases in Guam.
Sources have revealed North Korean soldiers have been told to get war ready and steal food and resources from Kim’s own citizens, reports Daily NK.
“The military officers are instructing their soldiers, exhausted after training, to eat corn in the fields because war is imminent,” a source told the website.
“They are even threatening their soldiers, saying: if you become malnourished despite permission to eat the corn, you will face difficulties.”
Army bosses have been told to turn a blind eye to looting as they encourage Kim’s soldiers to keep up their strength.
North Korea’s military has around 6.5 million available personnel, but is understood to be a beggar army – with troops malnourished and using ageing vehicles and weapons.
Kim has thousands of artillery pieces trained on the northern region of neighbours South Korea, ready to fire should war come to the region.
It emerged Seoul is preparing a war plan to occupy Pyongyang and kill or capture Kim Jong-un should North Korea “cross the line”.
Earlier this week, Kim’s mouthpiece KCNA said his most recent launch was the “first step of the military operation of the Korean People’s Army in the Pacific”.
It added the missile was launch was a “curtain-raiser” for more military action to tackle joint war games being held by the US and South Korea.
Japan have confirmed the missile launched over Hokkaido did have the range to reach the island of Guam.
US President Donald Trump has put Kim in his sights as he promised “fire and fury” and warned talking was no longer a solution.
Russia warned any action against North Korea would be “dangerous” as they called for calm in the Korean Peninsula.
Kim believes nuclear missiles will protect his rule from any attempt to depose him by the US.
