Jose Mourinho blasts Manchester United supporters

Jose Mourinho has blasted Manchester United supporters – on the club’s own TV channel.

Mourinho has accused United fans of not giving Romelu Lukaku enough support despite the Belgium centre forward being their 11 goal top scorer.

United boss Mourinho even claimed that he was “disappointed” with the Old Trafford faithful in an interview with MUTV after his side’s 1-0 win over Tottenham.

It is not the first time Mourinho has criticised United fans accusing them of being “too quiet” earlier in the season and has upset fans by flirting with Paris Saint Germain.

Mourinho told MUTV: “Yeah, I would like the supporters to explain to me why they don’t support him so much because he gives everything and I think it is not fair when scoring the goal or not scoring the goal makes the whole difference.

“I don’t think it I is fair at all. So I’m a bit disappointed – but not with him. With him very pleased.”

The interview was broadcast on MUTV but the transcript normally also goes up on the website and has yet to appear.

Mourinho also questioned the supporters in a post-match interview with Sky and defended both Lukaku and United’s overall performance following Anthony Martial’s late winner.

He added: “Sometimes he starts the match and his contribution is good, maybe not scoring so many times as he is coming from the bench but he is playing well, the same as Rashford the same as Lukaku.

“I really don’t understand some reactions why… are they Red Devils? – (shrugs) sometimes I don’t know because they [the strikers] work amazingly well.

“Today there were two strikers playing together against three top central defenders – the best we have in Europe – and they had to do the defensive job of pressing them when they [the Spurs defenders] were coming out with the ball which they do very well because they have big routines of playing with three in the back.

“And they [the strikers] gave us solutions to get out of the pressure, to win first balls, to win second balls, their work was amazing. Then Martial scored with a bad shot (laughs) but a bad shot sometimes can be a beautiful one!”
