Blues’ rebel Diego Costa remains in exile in his native Brazil as he refuses to return to London. The Premier League club could consider suing the striker for breaching his contract.
As reported by the Express, Chelsea and Diego Costa could be set for a multi-million pound battle in court, if the castaway centre-forward fails to report back to training.
Costa was named in Chelsea’s 25-man squad for the Premier League campaign and is currently the club’s second-highest earner, collecting £185,000 a week.
While the Brazil-born footballer claims that he was mistreated by Conte and the club, Chelsea insist that he remains their player and he must return to fulfill his contractual obligations.
Atletico urged Costa to return to training with the reigning Premier League champions, which is looking increasingly unlikely. Neither side seems eager to back down, which could see the matter resolved in the High Court.
The situation is far from a resolution, and drastic measures are on the table as Chelsea continue to ponder the possibility of suing Costa for up to £50 million for breaching his contract.
