‘Football Leaks’ has revealed what really went on during Barca’s summer pursuit of Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho and let’s just say it doesn’t quite tally up with the Catalan side’s version of events.
Put simply, according to the website, there were no negotiations between the two sides over a deal.
True to their words Liverpool refused to listen to any offers for their talisman and they certainly did not demand €200m for the Brazilian international.
The famous website also revealed that Liverpool asked Barcelona to stop publically pursuing their star player, with ‘Reds’ director Michael Edwards the man who had a stern word with his Catalan counterparts.
After being issued this hands off warning Óscar Grau reacted shocked an insulted and Barca quickly denied that they had ever contacted the player personally.
Acocording to the aformentioned source, that statement was also false, with ‘Football Leaks’ revealing a 20-page document detailling the agreement between the player and the club.
Said agreement included a €10m signing-on fee paid to the player’s agent if the deal had gone through. In terms of Coutinho’s contract, the 25-year-old would have received €115m over five years if he had joined the Spanish giants, according to the leaked document.
