Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid preview and possible lineups

We take a look ahead to Saturday’s highly anticipated La Liga fixture between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico’s new stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano, will hosts its first Madrid Derby on Saturday, with both teams coming into the game off wins prior to the international break.

‘Los Rojiblancos’ secured a 1-0 away win at Deportivo la Coruna, while ‘Los Blancos’ eased to a 3-0 home victory over Las Palmas.

Atletico Madrid:

Diego Simeone could be boosted by the return of Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, who has recovered from an injury suffered against Qarabag in the Champions League earlier this month. Filipe Luis and Koke, however, remain sidelined.

Real Madrid:

Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal have been cleared to play, with Zidane saying: “Modric had a scare yesterday, but trained normally today and Dani has been ready for a long time.”

The visitors will be hoping star man Isco can also recover from a knock picked up while on international duty with Spain.

Possible lineups:

Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Juanfran, Savic, Godin, Lucas; Saul, Gabi, Thomas, Augusto; Griezmann, Correa.

Real Madrid: Casilla; Hakimi, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco; Ronaldo, Benzema.
