The Election will be holding amidst tight security following threats by the Indigenous people of Biafra group(IPOB) calling for a boycott. The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) distributed materials successfully on Friday ahead of today.

The Top contenders for this position are: Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Osita Chidoka of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN and Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
INEC has announced that 2,158,171 people are eligible to participate in the much anticipated Anambra election. The electoral outfit has assured Nigerians that the process will be Free and Fair.
16,000 policemen have been deployed to 4000 polling units to ensure that the election process goes smooth.
