After rumours emerged of an approach for Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke, Italian publication ‘GOL’ revealed that Conte has decided on Mauro Icardi, and will attempt to prize the Argentine away from the San Siro in the winter transfer window.
The Inter captain has scored 86 goals in 155 appearances for the Serie A outfit, finding the net every 97 minutes this season. Conte has told the Chelsea hierarchy to meet his £88 million release clause to bring him to Stamford Bridge, a player that could reignite the Blues’ title hopes.
